Benin is a country in Western Africa. It covers a surface of 112.622 km2
and extends on 670 km, of the Niger River in north at the Atlantic coast
in the south. Benin counted 7.513.946 inhabitants in 2006. It has as
neighbours Togo in west, Nigeria in East and Niger and Burkina Faso in
north. Benin had its independence on August 1, 1960, under the
denomination of Republic of Dahomey, before taking its current name in
1975. The capacities were transmitted to President Hubert Maga by the
French minister of state Louis Jacquinot. The official capital is
Porto-Novo, Cotonou being the economic capital surnamed the "Latin Quarter
of Africa", the Benin has French as official language and currency CFA
franc. Benin has a good image of democratic country in African Sub-Sahara;
the country is indeed one of the pioneers of the African multi-party

Burkina Faso, Country of the just men, also called Burkina, is a country
of West Africa without access to the sea, surrounded by Mali in north,
Niger in the east, Benin in south-east, Togo and Ghana in the south and
Ivory Coast in south-west. Its inhabitants are the Burkinabe. The capital
is Ouagadougou, located at the centre of the country. Burkina Faso is
member of the African Union (UA) and the Economic community of the States
of West Africa (CEDEAO). Since January 2008, Burkina Faso forms part for
two years of the Safety advice of the United Nations as a nonpermanent
member. There exists more than 60 languages and dialects spoken in
Burkina Faso and the mooré a language spoken by the Mossi ethnos group is

television of Ouagadougou (FESPACO), the greatest African cinema festival
on the continent takes place every two years in Ouagadougou (February).

Ivory Coast, or officially the Republic of Ivory Coast, is a country of
Western Africa, member of the African Union. Of a surface of 322.462 km2,

and Guinea, to the east by Ghana and the south by the Atlantic Ocean. The
population, counted 15.366.672 inhabitants in 1998, is estimated at
18.373.060 inhabitants in 2008. Ivory Coast has for political and
administrative capital Yamoussoukro (Abidjan remaining economic capital),
for official language French and the currency is CFA franc.
Initially French protectorate in 1843 and become French colony in 1893,
the country acquires its independence on August 7, 1960, and Felix
Houphouet-Boigny was the first president. Ivory Coast has many tourist

Ghana is a country of Western Africa located at the edge of the Gulf of
Guinea. The countries bordering on Ghana are Ivory Coast in west, Burkina
Faso in north and Togo in East. Its capital city is Accra and its
inhabitants are called Ghanaians the official language is English, the
national language the most spoken is Twi and the currency is the cedi.
Modern Ghana does not have geographical or historical bonds direct with

Atlantic Ocean stretching of Ndiago in the south till in Nouadhibou in

controlled by Morocco since 1975), Mali in East, and Senegal in the south.
Mauritania constitutes a point of passage between North Africa and Black
Africa. It is populated with arabo-Berber Moors originating in the north
of the continent (White Bidanes or black Haratines), Peuls, Wolofs, and
Soninkés. The "Haratines" are descendants of black slaves coming from
various countries in African Sub-Saharan. The name derives from Maurétanie
Roman which related to the northern part of the current Maghreb. The
capital of Mauritania is Nouakchott. The term "Western Mauritania",
applied in December 1899 per Xavier Coppolani to part of the "Mauritanian
unit", supplants other names gradually: the known "Chinguett" of the Arab
East, the "Western Sahara" of the European explorers or Trab el Bidhane of
