Guinea Bissau
Located on the west coast of the continent of Africa, Guinea-Bissau borders north by Senegal, east and southeast by Guinea and west and southwest by the grand Atlantic Ocean.
On West Africa tours, it’s important to note that Guinea-Bissau is quite swampy at the low-lying inland and the coast, except of course in the northeast. Although there are no major mountains, there is grandeur with the Rio Grande de Buba, Corubal, Cacine, Mansoa, Cachew and Geba. Many freshwater rivers are on the inland, which are quite navigable for brief distances.
The sophisticated traveler should be aware that road conditions are basically good, except during the wet season when unsealed roads can be quite impassable. An International permit is advisable as driving is on the right side. A tourist can obtain a temporary license for driving from the Guinea-Bissau authorities on presenting a valid UK license for driving, or just enjoy one of the West Africa tours. Car hire can be costly and limited as it’s basically only available in Guinea-Bissau.
